Privacy Policy
Who We Are
Corona Pilots Association, Inc. (“CPA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit aviation club based at Corona Municipal Airport (KAJO). We are an independent organization of aviation enthusiasts not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Corona, Corona Municipal Airport, or any businesses or organizations referenced on our Site. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at cpa_board@coronapilotsassociation.org.
Information We Collect
We do not require any account registration to use our Site. However, we may collect information in the following ways:
- Information You Provide Voluntarily: If you contact us through our Contact Us form or via email, we collect any personal information you choose to provide. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiries or requests.
- Donations and Payments: Our website does not process any payments or handle sensitive financial information. We do not have online payment forms or e-commerce on our Site. Donations to CPA are accepted only via cash or external services like Zelle, using our official email (cpa_board@coronapilotsassociation.org). Any payment details (such as bank or card information) are handled off-site by those payment services and not collected or stored by us.
- Usage Data (Analytics): Like many websites, we use generic third-party analytics tools to collect anonymous usage data. This may include information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on the Site. This data is collected in aggregate form and does not personally identify you. It helps us understand how our Site is used and improve user experience. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine analytics information with any personal data you may provide.
Cookies and Tracking
Our Site may use standard cookies or similar technologies to facilitate analytics and site functionality. For example, our analytics provider may set cookies to distinguish repeat visitors. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being used. However, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly if cookies are disabled. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking individual behavior across other sites.
Third-Party Services and Content
CPA’s website may include third-party plugins, embedded tools, or iframes to enhance your experience (for example, an embedded map, video, social media feed, or calendar). These third-party features may collect data about your browser or set their own cookies, as if you were visiting their websites directly. We do not control the data collected by these external providers. This Privacy Policy does not cover third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you encounter through our Site.
Our Site also contains links to external websites (for example, resources for pilots, event partners, or governmental agencies). If you follow a link to a site that we do not operate, be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites. Those websites will have their own privacy policies, and your interactions on those sites are governed by their policies.
How We Use Your Information
When you provide personal information to us (such as through a contact form or email), we use it only for the purposes for which you provided it, including to:
- Respond to Inquiries: We use your contact information to reply to your questions, membership interests, or event inquiries.
- Provide Information and Support: If you request information about our events, membership, or services, we will use your details to communicate with you.
- Internal Record-Keeping: We may keep a record of communications (emails or form submissions) for our organizational purposes, such as tracking member interest or improving our services.
- Improve Our Site: Anonymous usage data helps us understand what parts of our Site are most useful to visitors, allowing us to refine content and layout. For example, knowing that many users visit our Events page can help us ensure that information is up to date.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purpose. Because we do not run a newsletter or marketing mailing list, you will not receive promotional emails from us unless you explicitly request to join a specific communication (for example, if you ask for updates on an event or membership).
Data Sharing and Disclosure
CPA respects your privacy. We will not share your personal information with third parties, except in the limited circumstances described below:
- Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the website or conducting our club operations (for example, website hosting or email service). These providers are given access only to the information necessary to perform their functions and are not permitted to use it for other purposes.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or government request. We may also do so to protect our rights, ensure public safety, or enforce our Terms of Use.
- Club Leadership: If you submit an inquiry related to club membership or events, your information may be shared internally with members of the CPA board or event organizers in order to address your request or invite you to participate. We do this on a need-to-know basis.
In all cases, we limit the information shared to what is necessary for the specific purpose. We do not share your personal data with any third parties for their own marketing or fundraising purposes.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you provide to us. Our website is a static site with no public login, which reduces potential vulnerabilities. Personal information submitted through the Site (such as via contact forms) is transmitted to us via secure methods and is accessible only to authorized CPA board members or administrators who need it to perform their duties. We maintain safeguards (technical, administrative, and physical) to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of your data.
However, please understand that no website or Internet transmission is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to be careful about the information you submit online and to report any security concerns to us.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. For instance, if you contact us with a question, we may keep your email and our response for our records so we can reference it in future communications or improve our services. If you become a member or donor, we may retain your contact information as part of our membership donation records, which are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and standard nonprofit recordkeeping practices. When personal information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it in a secure manner.
Your Choices and Rights
Because we collect minimal personal data, we handle requests on a case-by-case basis. You have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and Update: You may contact us to ask what personal information we have about you, if any, and to request corrections or updates to that information.
- Opt-Out: Since we do not send unsolicited emails or newsletters, you will not need to opt out of marketing communications from us. If you have actively requested updates (for example, asking to be notified about a future event) and no longer wish to receive them, let us know and we will honor your request.
- Deletion: You can request that we delete the personal information you have provided to us (for example, if you contacted us and want that correspondence removed from our records). We will delete your information to the extent feasible, though we may retain minimal information if necessary for legal compliance (e.g., documenting a donation for tax purposes).
- Cookies: You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do so, note that our Site will still function, but analytics cookies (if any) will no longer track your visit.
To exercise any of these rights or if you have privacy-related concerns, please contact us at cpa_board@coronapilotsassociation.org. We will make every effort to address your request or concern in a timely and appropriate manner.
Photos and Media
Our Site may display images of CPA events, members, and aircraft to showcase our community and activities. We take care to use photos respectfully and often with the consent of those depicted. If you appear in a photo on our Site and prefer that it be removed, please contact us and we will review your request promptly. These photos are published for informational and community purposes. They are the property of CPA or the respective photographers, and are protected under intellectual property laws (see our Terms of Use for more details on content ownership).
Children’s Privacy
Our Site and club are not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 online. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal information through our Site. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child may have
provided us personal information can contact us to request its removal. (Note: CPA does offer youth scholarships and events for young aspiring pilots; in those cases, any personal data is typically provided to us by a parent or with parental consent offline. Such offline data collection is outside the scope of this website Privacy Policy.)
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we update the policy, we will change the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any changes signifies your acceptance of the updated terms.
